The flood water at the Regional Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) have receded and the plant is now accessible. Unfortunately, the flood water was about 4.5 feet in the WWTP control building and has damaged equipment. In addition, water got into the fuel system of the onsite generator, so that generator is not available for use (at least not anytime soon). The WWTP operator is on site, cleaning up the mess, and doing what they can to get the plant up and running. The full assessment of the WWTP equipment is continuing.
They have brought in a generator which has been successfully connected to one of the lift pumps which is in operation and began pumping flow to the plant September 7th. A second lift pump was put on line later in the evening. They also have the disinfection system operating off that generator. We are expecting a second generator(s) to operate additional treatment facilities within the next few days.
There remains a long way to go before full plant operations resume. Please continue to minimize your sanitary sewer waste water.
